Photos of Dylan's first few days in school

I feel so satisfied with the small toddler rigel teacher as she made a photo link of Dylan at school so that we know what is going on while we were not with him and also keep us posted via the communication book daily. Felt so sweet and happy when i saw this slideshow and made me miss him......

At least this makes me feel that it is worthwhile sending him to this school. =)

He still cries after the fourth day to school but getting better and got to know the teachers' names. He is getting more talkative and vigilant to the surrounding after going to school, will copy or remember things which we say or places which he sees.

Something interesting and sweet happen today, grandma always like to kiss him so today when mummy asks Dylan to kiss mummy, Dylan went to ask grandma "Do you want a kiss too?" =)

Dylan starts to go childcare

We decided to stop being weekend parents so enrol Dylan in a childcare near our place and along the way to work.... Mummy took two weeks off from work so as to accompany him to the childcare centre, this is not an easy job as it is really a heartache to see how he cries when we leave the place.

We tried to get him to sleep at 10 the day before he was going to school as he had to wake up at about 730am the next day. It was not really a hassle before he agreed to wear his school uniform but just had a grouchy face.

I stayed there throughout the half day, went thru the big toddler class where he will be the youngest and also the young toddler class where he will be one of the oldest. He and also we prefer the younger class but there are more kids there and about two or three are pretty new.

The second day, mummy stayed half way thru the half day class and left Dylan with teacher, crying for mummy. Tot i wont feel this bad but it was really quite sad to leave him there.... I went to look for him during noon and little Dylan cried the moment he saw him, he must be feeling how come mummy leave him there and rushed to hug me, this is the warmest hug I ever felt.

Here's him with his puffy eyes..

Mummy rewarded him with some gummy as he was brave to be there without us and he smiled.... When i asked him if he still wants to go to school, he says "YES" but we will see how tomorrow. =)

He slept halfway thru the short journey back home.... bet he is v tired after class and after crying for so long.

Preparing to go to school

From the initial selection to the budgeting, distance and finally the comfort level and the vacancies available, we decided to bring Dylan to Little Sk00l house for his toddlers class as we are finally going to be Full time parents effective 24 Nov. This is definitely not my first choice but we have to do with it till my first choice moved to a bigger premise in May and we shall see...

Life will change - we will have lesser dating days but more time to spend with the little fellow to bring joy to our working weekdays. Time to discipline and teach him (hopefully we will do the correct way). I seriously hate to ask him to do colouring as i myself dislike it when i was young. =/

On the whole, this little one is shy and quiet yet have a mischeivous and stubborn nature. At this age, he tends to be more inquisive and ask alot of questions repeatedly. He is getting more and more responsive as he understands what we are talking about and so happy that after he went for his LNT class, he acquires another language which is Japanese. He knows how to say one to ten, ask for the time, greetings in this language.

Cute, happy and sweet things which he said
  • there was once when i called home and grandma asked him to tell me that he is a good boy but he said this all by himself "Zhe Zhe wants to hug hug Mama"... I felt so sweet and contented.
  • Mama went for sammi's concert and he kept on asking daddy "Where did mama go" for at least ten times.

No more pacifier days

Dylan just recovered from HFM and during those days, mummy was tempted in helping him to get rid of the pacifier crave as it hurts when he ate his pacifier with ulcers in his mouth but the attempt failed as he still loves it.

Some tactics shared from others
  • get the kid to throw away
  • cut holes on the pacifier so that it wont feel the same anymore
  • put a little chilli on the pacifier

I took the first approach.... There is this night when he didnt have pacifier and went to sleep. The next morning, mummy praised him and asked him to throw pacifier away into the dustbin which he did and smiled thinking that he will get it back later..... haha

There goes the pacifier, mummy confiscated that and kept on telling him that he threw away himself when he asked for it and this makes him cry for at least 15 mins before he goes to sleep for the next few days......

Hand Foot Mouth Disease

Silly mummy kept thinking that Dylan is just feeling a little heaty recently but didnt cross her mind that Dylan who is down with occasional fever, ulcers and lack of appetite has contracted hand foot mouth disease till we visit the doctor again. The paed (ABC) which we went to is really thumbs up. Even though he is a guy, he has a lot of love and care with kids. I will say I rank ABC first, kidscl1nic second, Dr S@w third, thoms0n last and KK not in my list. =)

Signs and Symptoms
  • fever
  • sore throat
  • ulcers in the throat, mouth and tongue
  • headache
  • rash vesicles on buttocks, arms and legs
  • loss of appetite
  • vomitting and or diarrhoea

Mummy was still thinking of bringing him to his second class at LNT, luckily we discover before hand else we will be classified as irresponsible parents and transmit the disease to others. Now it is time for disinfection of his toys and will need to practise good hygiene.

It hurts when Dylan says 'pain pain' when eating or drinking but glad that he still likes to play and laugh...

Class at Little Neur0 tree

Given that Dylan is at the age of absorbing and learning at a v fast rate, mummy changed his class from GUG (more of singing and learning zoophonics) to Little Neur0 tree (building brain power).... It is more expensive in terms of per hour rate (was about $35 previously to $50) so no more skipping of lessons coz of holidays as it is not worthwhile. =)

Today is his first lesson and it is in Japanese... there are three diff languages (English, Chinese, Jap) which rotates each week. Sensei is a japanese Misago sensei and it is taught in a rather fast paced and focus on speed learning. Even mummy cannot catch at times but thankfully, mummy knows abit of jap so it is not tt difficult to teach Dylan.

This is what he has learnt today.
  • numbers - ichi, ni, san, shi, go, roku, shichi, hachi, kyu, jyu
  • time - ima nan ji? ku ji.... yo ji...
  • greetings - ohayo gozaimasu, konnichiwa, konbanwa
  • colours - orangy, midori, aka, shiroi, murasaki

Songs the teacher sang today.....

This is alot for an hour class.... The interesting part is actually to test their memory power - teacher will flash the cards which shows the sequence of things and ask them to paste the things in the same sequence and there is alot of hands on...
Dylan being himself, is v shy and scared of strangers... as much as he is interested in the class, he cried halfway through....

Zoo trip 17Aug10

Dressed Dylan in his giraffe top as we are going to the zoo with Hei Auntie... it was a sunny day so Dylan wore his shades while we travel there.

His fav spot at the zoo is the moo moo cow just before we step into the zoo, will always take a pic before we start our excursion.

He was initially attracted to the fish then to the parrots before he run off to take a peek at the monkey. He loves to say bye bye to animals or items such as waterfall or statue which he likes but will hardly do so to ppl which he meets.

He is trying to mimic the hippo who has its eyes half shut and dylan says that the hippo is sleeping =)

Some animal pics taken by Hei Auntie.

Second giraffe feeding time

Feeding goat with leaves picked from the ground
He is more brave as compared to mummy as he feeds the animals by himself and enjoys doing so. He laughs when the giraffes lick him which amused those tourists.
After feeding the animals, it is time to feed ourselves and we have our meals at the Ah Meng restaurant. Prior to this, we went for the elephant ride which is v humpy and nothing interesting. Hei Auntie just had lasik and is playing with her glasses with Dylan.

Here's Dylan happily wearing the glasses...
Next, we went to the wet playground and Dylan miss his nap time just bcoz of this but after playing for some time. he told mummy to go as he felt tired.

Splash.....

Trying to run underneath the water fountain

Dylan fell asleep during the ride to East Coast for dinner and he got to know more animals after today... More zoo trip to come....

A day out with Qiaoli Jie Jie

Mummy took a week off as Daddy is out for reservist and it is also Hei Auntie's last week in Singapore.... Brought Dylan to go shopping with Hei Auntie and he teared the moment she opened her mouth and talked when we went to pick her up.. Dylan is extremely scared of strangers and will not even like to talk or be touched by them...It will take him some time to get used to them so it took Dylan about 30 mins and some sweets before he decided to befriend Hei Auntie.

She just did her lasik thus have to put eyedrops here and then and here's Dylan's puzzled face thinking what she is doing.

Playing with the toys by himself while we had our lunch at Sh0kudo... nice place to keep kids occupied.

Dylan simply ignored her and continued to play by himself...

There is also a slide and after the assistance of Auntie Hei once, he climbed up by himself.

Went to fruit paradise to have our little high tea and ordered the banana choco tart...

Dylan got so happy seeing his fav fruit ------ banana.....

Auntie Hei fed him....

Banana inside his mouth.....

Feeling so happy.... yum yum......

Swimming.....

Brought Dylan to cousin's place for bb Elton's bb shower.... Little Dylan slept while mummy drove there and still refused to wake up when we reached so he continued sleeping in his pram by the pool side.

We waited for about two hours for him to wake up..... Here's Dylan, in his mickey mouse swimming outfit, having fun playing with water. He refused to be held by mummy and pushed my hands off, thinking that he has the capability to swim by himself in the pool of 1.5metre high, so mummy brought him to the kids pool so he can have more freedom by himself.

He loves to splash water and will do it purposely when he knows that you are afraid of it, he did it on cousin Aidan who doesnt like water on his face.

His little mousy tail will float as he walks haha..... When mummy asks him "where is your tail?" he will pull it and commented that I dont have.... =)

Down the children slide.... Mummy tried to come down together with him but got a hit on the butt... so moral of the story => this is really meant for kids.... He loves the excitement of sliding down and climbing up the stairs which makes mummy and jiu jiu super tired.

Here's mummy and the mousy pooh.......

Happy 2nd Year Birthday

Time flies, Dylan is now 2 years old... We decided to have a smaller celebration this year as there is still a little phobia of his first year celebration preparing food and drinks for more than 100 guests.

Little Dylan likes to play with water so we book a chalet at Downtown east so that we can pop by Wild Wild Wet as and when we like. It is rather fun for Dylan till stupid mummy forces him down the slide when he refuses so he rather stays out of water till we slowly pacifies him.

Dylan plays with his bubbles while jiu jius prepare the BBQ.... As he grows up, he likes to do things by himself without the help of adults.

It is cake cutting time... Dylan choses his cake himself when we popped by Swensens a week before, we tot he will chose Mickey cake but in the end, he decided to have bb donald and just nice, we have a donald top for him to match the cake. =)

He learns how to smile in front of camera but a fake one instead- he considers smiling as eyes small small, mouth wide open.

At his age, he loves to mimic what we do - be it speech or actions.

Daddy taught him to 'nose to nose' since young and Dylan has been doing this with things or ppl whom he likes which makes daddy super proud of his teaching.

The next day, we went to take those rides and to expl0rerkids...

He cannot get enough of balls which is very typical of kids. Before he left, he still bid bye bye to 'them'

Opening up his presents at home...

We had another cake for him on his actual day which falls on a Sunday... Happy Birthday my dear son - hope you will stay healthy and happy always. More celebrations to come......
